What is the New Add/Edit Feature for Uploading Videos into the System?

You’ve waited for this…and it’s here! But how does the Add/Edit Video Suite work? Here are answers to some common questions.

NorthstarMLS recently implemented a new feature for subscribers in the Add/Edit listing input system. Users can now upload video files directly into Add/Edit within the Media tab on their listings! This new feature powered by WellcomeMat makes the video upload process even easier and alleviates the need to host videos with other external platforms.

We’ve compiled answers to some frequently asked questions (FAQs) we’ve received since launching this subscriber benefit and answers we think you’ll find helpful as you start using the Video Suite: 

Q: Can I still upload virtual tours?

A: Yes, you will still have the capability to upload virtual tours and videos under the “Virtual Tours” tab using a web URL link from an external platform or photographer/videographer if it meets MLS policy guidelines.

Q: How many videos can I upload?

A: The video upload feature powered by WellcomeMat allows one video to be uploaded to the system.

Q: How many total virtual tours and videos can be uploaded?

A: Add/Edit allows two virtual tour URLs and one video file to be uploaded at a time. However, a total maximum of two virtual tours, or one virtual tour link and one video upload can be displayed on MLS systems and websites. That means if there are already two virtual tour URL links uploaded, those will take priority over the video file being uploaded. To display the video file, one of the virtual tour URLs will have to be removed.

Q: Where can I view the video file that I uploaded?

A: Right now, video files uploaded directly into Add/Edit will display in your listing on Matrix, Flexmls and Paragon MLS systems and on partner websites (if the websites choose to display virtual tour links) where Virtual Tour links are displayed.

Q: Why did NorthstarMLS add this feature?

A: Historically, the Add/Edit listing input system has not allowed video files to be uploaded. If a subscriber wanted a video on their listing, they had to rely on other platforms or vendors to host the video for them and upload a web-based URL link. Now, you can take video files from your devices and upload them into the Add/Edit system just like you do with photos. This makes the process efficient and affordable. NorthstarMLS will continue to work with data vendors and websites to enhance the video display experience for consumers and real estate professionals.
